We had to use two buses to get to ordiorne point, and it took a little while to get there. When we got out of the bus everyone immediately went into the tide pools. As soon as we got into the water people already started to find little ceartures. On the way back we got into the two buses and then headed to Johnsons which is an ice cream place.
Tides occur because of the moon because of gravity. The moon pulls the water up towards it which then creates what we call tide pools, because the water is low. The water on the earth has two bulges and so when the earth rotates the water goes out on one side and then comes back in on the other side and this keeps happening because of the rotation.
Splash zone/ black zone, it is called the black zone because of the cyanobacteria the dries up and turns black for some reason because cyano is a blue-ish color. There is the white zone because they have barnacles. There is a brown zone because of the rockweed and knotted wrack. Lastly there is a red zone, it is called the red zone because of the Irish moss.
At odiorne point I saw a bunch of crabs and hermit crabs. I saw a couple sea urchins and snails. I also saw rockweed and knotted wrack everywhere. I saw baracels and a lobster arm but not a lobtser. I saw some irish moss and sea weed.
I think that in between the brown and red zone have the most veriety of creatures. I think that they are in those zones because thats where the rockweed and knotted wrack are and so little crabs or snails can hide from predators.
