Three weeks ago we went on a trip to Mt. Cardigan and learned about the two types of location, absolute and relative. The AMC lodge is about one quarter miles west of Mt. Cardigan. From the AMC lodge it is about 10.3 miles walking distance to Cardigan mountain. The AMC lodge is located on, AMC lodge cardigan lodge, 774 shem valley rd, Alexandria, NH 03222. The elevation of Mt. Cardigan is 3,156ft. The elevation for the lodge is 1,900ft. The coordinates for Cardigan lodge is 43 degrees 38 minutes 57 seconds N 71 minutes 52 seconds 36 seconds W. The coordinates for Cardigan mountain are 43 degrees 38 minutes 58 seconds N 71 degrees 54 minutes 51 seconds W. The Cardigan Mountain is west of the Cardigan Lodge.
Physical:
Different types of physical geography at Mt. Cardigan are, the little bodies of water on top of the summit were all the rainwater collected and came together. There are carvings of peoples names in the rock on top of Cardigan. It was super windy at the summit, so you could lean over and fall in slow motion. If you were to look at some parts of the rock on the way up and on the summit of Cardigan you can see big cracks in the rock from being weathered from the environment. The weather on the summit will probably always be windy, but it has been warm a couple of times on the past trips. When you are up on the summit of Mt. Cardigan you will have a wonderful view of the trees and sky, you may also hear birds and the wind blowing through trees. You can also see the fire tower on the top of Cardigan. There are amazing views and the open skies. You can see all different types of fern trees and hemlocks all over the place. You can enjoy the beautiful sun and you can see for miles and miles over the hills and mountains. You can see different types of birds and see what types of environments there are. You can get to know your surroundings by spotting different types of trees and cones. Physical geography is about the environment around an object and what its surrounding looks and sounds like.
Cultural:
Types of cultural geography are, the trails that you walk on which are man made because people walk there. There are towers that are used for looking to see if there are fires or to see how far the fire has traveled. There are stacks of rocks called cairns that are man made. The AMC lodge is man made and is used for sleeping in when you stay. There are solar panels that run the lights in the lodge. There is an old run down car on top of a hill that has been sitting there for years and will probably stay there forever. There are campsites that were made for people to come and camp. There are benches for people to sit on. There are railings so you dont fall down the steep cliff. There are signs to tell you which way to go so you dont get lost. Cultural geography is about the values and diversity of a surrounding.
We were at cardigan lodge for three days, Wednesday, then on Thursday, and Friday.
