At 8:20 we got on tow different buses to go to Odiorne shore. Once we got there we all went out to try to find crabs and different animals. Then we got called up for check in and ate our lunches. Then some people played wiffle ball, some others played other games like football. And some people like me ended up going back out ot either release animals that we had cought or to try to catch a giant crab.
Tides are the water level on beaches. If tide is low then the water is farther out. When the tide is high there might be less beach space due to the water being high. This is caused by the moon, the moon moves and creates a gravitation pull to make the water go farther or closer out. The tides can be a danger sometimes. Sometimes the lower the tide the stronger it might want to pull you out to sea that can be scary and could even cost you your life.
Black Zone
the black Zone is a bunch of black rocks. This is where lots of the crabs live. When the tide is high then you wont be able to see the black zone cause the water will barely covers the black zone. The black zone also has rocks with crabs and lobsters.
White Zone
This is the white zone. The rocks here are still black but they are sparkled white. Because in the white zone is where there is a bunch of animals and white stuff stuck on the rocks. so the rocks look black but sparkled with white things.
Brown Zone
The brown zone is like the other zones where there are lots of rocks. the main thing that gives it the name Brown zone is the stuff on the rocks make them look brown. When the tide goes down you can see these rocks. This is where finding crabs might be a little less common due to when the tide is up the crabs would be VERY deep in the water.
Red Zone
The red tide is a little bit farther out then any other zone. When the tide is out you may or may not see the red zone,it might have some rocks like the other zones but this zone will have longer sea weed due to the depth of the water being so far out. There is a very very very low chance that you will find a crab out this far. You might even see some fish or dead fish due to the depth of the water
When we went there I started seeing lots of things. Most common animal we found was a crab. We found other thinks like Sea Stars, Sea Erchents, Rough mantle, and lots of tiny lobsters. Seeing crabs were very cool. We had a to compete to see who could find the biggest crab. They got BIG. We also saw many and many of crabs with eggs on there baby. Some looked like they were 10 minutes away from giving birth.
So the most variety is in the black zone, The reason for this is it can hold lots of different animals. Like crabs cant live too deep but when the tide goes out they can head lower. But at most times of the day they can life in the black zone. The black zone can also hold lobsters, Sea Erchents. The reason for this is water level, the lower the level the farther out they can go. But when the tide is up they have to move up due to air. And when they move up they might make a home so they life in the higher parts like the black zone all the time. All in all this trip was very very interesting and I think that me and other people learned a lot from it.
Sea Erchent found these in many different zones but most of mine were found in Black Zone

Rough Mantle found on top of the water, over the black zone. |
Crab found every where but almost all of mine were foudn in black zone or a tad bit deeper

Sea Star found in black zone attached to a rock under water that we flipped over. |
