We started on two buses. Once we got on there were two to a seat. We got their and met up by an old bunker. After that we went to go tide pool. The first thing I saw was a crab. After tide pooling some of us went up and played football. We got back on the bus and got ice cream.

Tides are controlled by the moon's gravitational pull; it creates bulges on the side of the earth it's on. When the moon is on the other side of the earth then its low tide where you are and if the moon is where you are then its high tide.

The Splash zone only gets splashed occasionally on high tide. It’s much higher than the low tide is. The black zone has cyanobacteria that coats the rocks in a blue substance that makes them turn black. The white zone is where all the barnacles live. They attach themselves to the rocks and stay there their whole life. The brown zone is where the kelp lives. There are two different types of it. Rockweed knotted wrack. The red zone is where the irish moss lives. It is red and has feathery leaves.

At Odiorne Point I saw a lot of crabs, barnacles, shrimp, Rock weed, knotted wrack, sea urchins and hermit crabs. The most intresting thing I found was a pregnant crab. Me and some of my friends flipped over a rock and there were multiple large crabs.

WHERE is there the most variety, and WHY do you think this is?

I think the red zone had the most variety of life. There were lots of animals like crabs and shrimp. It has just enough water for the kelp to be able survive. The Crabs like to hide in the shade or under the kelp.
