The coordinates of Mount Cardigan are North 43 Degrees 38 Minutes 58 Seconds West 71 Degrees 54 Minutes 51 Seconds. The mountain is west of the AMC cardigan mountain lodge. The mountain is about two miles away from the lodge. Cardigan about 10 miles away walking distance. It is in both Orange and Alexandria, New Hampshire. It is west of the lodge. Mount Cardigan is five miles away from newfound lake.

Physical

White pines cover the mountain in a dark green. Giant boulders placed randomly on the mountain making it hard to climb. Monarch butterflies . Cardigan is a bare rock summit sculpted by the wind at the top of the mountain. The alpine zone at the top is untouched by mankind. Dirt settled into the cracks in the rock. The wind howled at the bare rock summit.

Cultural

Man made trails run up and down the mountain. Blazes and cairns marking our way. The trails, weathered by the feet of people and animals. I remember the fire tower at the top standing solitary on the bare summit. The carvings in the rock marking the people that have been there. The fire tower full of names etched into the white metal bars. Including mine. We walked up a skiing hill to an old sky lift that used to be powered by a car. Rusty car pieces littered the surrounding area.

We were at Cardigan Mountain for three days day 1, day 2, and day 3
