On day two of our trip to Cardigan Mountain, the theme was Regions. Regions is when there are different areas, or regions, of the same thing, but all the different species were separated. It was regions because there were many different regions of different plants on the top of the mountain. There were some licen, some pine trees, some other trees, and other random plants, but they were all mostly separated into Regions.
We started by getting on the bus. On the way there, the whole bus sang random songs like Sofia the First and Into the Unknown. While we were singing, we had the windows down and drove by two old men standing outside a shop. They waved to us and we did that the next day too. When we got to the AMC lodge, we started by getting into groups, and then we headed right off. That day was the "big hike" day, so we hiked up Firescrew, across to Cardigan, and down Cardigan. Mr. Woolner came with us and took pictures and told us stories. On the way up, there was a little stream that we took a break at. There was also a fallen tree that looked like it had been struck by lightning! When we finally reached the summit of Firescrew, we ate lunch, and Mr. Woolner helped a few people find there way down the mountain. Then, we headed across to Cardigan.
Before we reached the summit of Cardigan, there was a few sheds that we sketched. Then, we finally reached the summit, where we saw another group and a fire tower. It was SO windy! It almost felt like it was hailing! And when I stood there and let my coat fly behind me and the hard rain pelt me in the face, I saw all the clouds and treetops.
On the way down Cardigan, we crossed a bridge and drew maple leaves. Then, we had a race to see whos maple leaf would flow down the rocky stream the fastest. I might have slipped down the mountain, but it all turned out ok. We headed back to home, and went to bed excited for the next day!
