First, we took the bus to Mt. Cardigan in Alexandria, NH. When we got there, I saw the AMC lodge, eager to start hiking. We later learned about the Indian Cucumber and then had lunch. We learned all about Hemlock trees and hiked on Logging Road. We saw cellar holes and learned all about them and sketched lots of cool trees in and around there. We hiked the Back 80 trail and climbed fallen logs, as well as exploring rivers. We sketched pine trees, the AMC lodge, and then we were back on the bus.
On day one, we did lots of fun activities, including sketching trees like the scotch pine. The scotch pine has lots to do with the theme movement, actually. Scotch pines originally came from Scotland and were used as Christmas trees. Now they have spread and are everywhere! We also saw the AMC lodge which lots of people have come and go from, including kids from our school a while ago, and lots of other guides. We also hiked on logging road where lots of people came and went to cut down trees.
