Where is Cardigan Mountain?

Mount Cardigan is located in Alexandria, NH. The summit of Cardigan is at N 43 degrees 38 minutes 59.05 seconds W 71 degrees 54 minutes 51.20 seconds. The trail to go up Cardigan starts South West of the AMC lodge. Hopkinton is South East of Mount Cardigan. Mount Cardigan is 41.6 miles away from Hopkinton Middle High School. It takes just over an hour to drive from the School to the lodge. It got really boring. The school is South West from Mount Cardigan.

How was it?

At Cardigan Mountain you can see a lot of things surrounding you including a lot of different pine trees and maple trees. When you start getting close to the summit then you see a lot of mountain ash. But some things you can see at the base of mount firescrew are squirrels, birds, and chipmunks. Some of the plants you can find at the base are Indian Cucumbers and poison ivy. On the first day we ate lunch at welton falls after a long hike that included going over hills where the trail started south west of the lodge. Where we hiked for just about 3 miles which tired us out for lunch. We met another group at welton falls. Welton falls has 1 big waterfall, get it welton FALLS. Then there is a small waterfall. But other than that there are rocks all along the bank and then there are different little holes with water in them all over the place. The summit of Cardigan is made of rocks which can get sketchy when you hike on them when they are wet. There was a glacial erratic near the summit of Firescrew.

Some of the things related to people that you can find on and around the summit of Cardigan and Firescrew are carvings in the rocks, cairns, food, wrappers, and a firetower. There is a fire cabin going down the trail just barely off the summit. You can see a lot of campsites and bear boxes down by the AMC lodge. Which is right next to the parking lot on you right. If you go to campsite 12 and you head up the hill then you can even see a car that the people used parts of to make a chairlift to go up mount cardigan and firescrew which believe it or not it is a ski trail there is also a cellar hole near the end or the beginning depending on where you went on the back 80 loop that there was a red geocache in which there was a notebook that we could sign our names in. The cellar hole was a big indent in the ground that was surrounded by rocks. There was another rock wall near the beginning of the trail up Firescrew.

We were there for 3 days, Wednesday September 22, Thursday September 23, Friday September 24 2021.
