Most people started the trip by going on one of the 2 busses but not me. Since my mom was chaperoning i got to ride in my moms car instead of the busses. once we arrivewent straight to the benches and put our bags down. After that we wnt tide pooling we walked through all the layers of rocks and saw a lot of seaweed. Then I went down to all the water and I lifted up a rock and found a lot of little baby crabs and snails. After we had lunch and I went on the playground and played tag. Then we changed and went back to school/home.
Tides are caused by the moons gravitational pull which makes a bulge in the water that brings the tide up and down. These tides change about every 6-ish hours.
The first zone is called the dry zone it is the place where water can not reach. The next zone is called the black zone because all of the cyanobacteria and only a little water reaches there. After that is the white zone because there are a lot of barnacles. Next is the brown zone due to all the seaweed. The last zone is called the red zone because of the irish moss, it is also amost all the time covered in water.
When I first arived at Odiorne I saw a lot of rockweed and knotted wrack on the rocks. Than I walked on the rocks and got to little tide pools with a lot of barnicals and snails. I continued down the rocks and got to bigger tide pools, I lifted up a rock and found so many little crabs! I wondered around the water and found some baby lobsters and someone found a northern seastar. Other things I found Inclueded, A daisy brittle star, a adult lobster, and a sea urchent.
I think the most veriety is in the red zone. The red zone inclueds big cretures like lobsters, sea urchents, and seastars. It also inclueds small creatures like barnicals, snails, and mussels. Another thing it inclueds is rockweed and knotted wrack.
