Description of day 2:

I woke up early for the second day of my cardigan trip. I got on the bus and Emma HS and I sat in the back this time. We arrived and re-grouped with our group from the day before. We climbed up Cardigan Mountain and some of the boys carried big rocks some of the way up. When we stopped for lunch we sketched some more and then ate our pre-packed lunches. When we got to the top some people made a cairn with their rocks that they carried. After spending some time there we hiked on, to FireScrew Mountain. We played a tree bidding game with our counselor and I got to draw a watermelon tree. When we got down the mountain, my group and another group played 500 and a red light green light game with a stuffed caterpillar. After the long sunny day, me and my friends got back on the bus and took the long drive home.

Theme of Day 2:

Region

The theme of geography for my day 2 at Cardigan mountain is region. I think this because we hiked in a few different forests that day and a change of regions. Another reason is that as we hiked up the mountain we went through some different regions of trees. For example there were more birch and oak trees at the base of the mountain. A little further up you would see a lot of hemlocks. At the very top of both mountains it was mostly rock and few, short, trees like pine and spruce trees. When we were hiking between cardigan and firescrew we were on the edge of a water shed and a region.
