Cardigan location
Cardigan mountain has a fire tower at the summit. There's writing on the tower with people's names. You start at the AMC lodge with metal roofing and solar panels in the grass. If you go down the trails there will be signs to guide you the ways of getting around and planks down the trails for mud and water and bridges. It's all cultural geography man-made things. There are campsites for people to camp out there.
Cardigan has a bunch of cool little mushrooms of all kinds on the trails. You will see brooks and rivers that are very beautiful. A waterfall that comes out of bare rock, there are big rocks and there's this huge rock that is there. There is a lot of wildlife like birds and squirrels and moles and small insects, salamanders you name it. There are cool trees like scotch pines and spruce and maybe even apple trees.
We were there for three days,Day 1 we walked on trials, day 2 we went up to cardigan Day 3 we were there for a short time just on trails. We had a great time.
Cardigan mountain is right next to the Firescrew. The hike usually starts at the AMC lodge and if you go down to the trail and about 150 ft there will be a two-way trail. Take the right trail and that will take you to the summit. There will be paths on the way so be sure to bring a map.
Mt Cardigan is in the towns of Alexandria and Orange of western NH. There is a lake near Cardigan called Newfoundlake which is 175 miles north of cardigan. The Summit of the cardigan is 3,155 ft above sea level. The Cardigan Summit is bare rock at the top you will see a fire tower.
