My Day 1 At Mount Cardigan

September 22, 2021

On September 22, 2021, I left on the bus with the rest of my Group 2 grademates, which was about half of the 7th grade. As we were riding on the bus, I drew pictures in my sketchbook, which I would later regret. We began to sing on the bus, songs which I can’t remember, and then right when we arrived at the AMC Lodge at Mount Cardigan, I threw up. . . on the bus. Never should’ve drawn those pictures, that’s for sure. I was one of the only kids to get the chance to go inside the lodge, and after I had gotten cleaned up and put on a new change of clothes, which I thankfully packed, I played games with the other kids while we waited.

Then we were put into groups, with our group leaders. My group leader was Izzy, who was so fun to hang with. We did some stretches, and then entered the hiking trails. About ten minutes later, we came across the Old Foundation, which was an area surrounded by old, cracked, mossy stone brick walls. After we had sketched the Old Foundation, we continued along the trail, and about 20 minutes later, we stopped for a break when the sole of my boot started to come off. After Izzy duck-taped it for me, we hiked down to Welton Falls, a beautiful area with a magnificent, small waterfall, where we had lunch. During lunch, we came up with our group name: The Rubber Duckies. After lunch, we hiked a lot more, and then we came out onto a thin gravel road. We walked up the road, which is when the sole of my hiking boot finally decided to come off. Mr. Woolner, who had been with our group that day, stuffed it into his bag and we continued walking along the road until we entered a new hiking trail, where we got to eat a Wild Cucumber root. It actually tasted good, almost exactly like a carrot. Weird.

We hiked back towards the AMC Lodge, but before we went back completely, we stopped at a picnic table beside a big pond to discuss how we thought the day had gone. After our talk, we walked to the AMC Lode, where we played games with another group while we waited for the others to get back. After all the groups had returned, we said bye to our group leaders, who we were to see the next day, and boarded the bus, and enjoyed a calm, peaceful ride back to the school.

Movement

One of the themes for this paragraph is movement, because the teachers and students rode on the bus from the Hopkinton Middle High School all the way to the AMC Lodge, in Alexandria, New Hampshire, and walked along the hiking trails and up the mountains.
