Where is Cardigan Mountain?

Cardigan Mountain is located in Alexandria, New Hampshire. The top of Cardigan mountain is located at N 43 degrees, 39 minutes, 22 seconds W 71 degrees, 54 seconds, 37 minutes, and the elevation is 3,123 feet. It is located approximately 44.1 miles North-West from Concord, the capital of NH. It is located in the western part of New Hampshire in Grafton county.

What is the Cardigan Mountain area like?

The Cardigan Mountain area is an amazing place with lots of beautiful, cool plants and animals. There is a trail near the parking lot that leads to a waterfall called Welton Falls. The trail is steep and difficult to go down. There are very large and slippery rocks that lead to the stream. Welton Falls has lots of more large rocks with a stream that flows downhill. The large rocks were carved and smoothed out by glacier water that rushed through. The waterfall falls down in between two large rocks. Back at the base of Cardigan Mountain there is another trail that leads to Cardigan Mountain. The trail has many plants, rocks, and tree, one of them beign an Ash Tree. The majority of the trail is uphill and has lots of mud, leaves, large rocks, trees, and roots. There is also a very large tree that has fallen North-West over the trail. I did not make it to the top of Cardigan Mountain, but the mountain right next to it is called Firescrew, and my group went to the top of that. At the top it is mostly flat rock, and you can look down and see lots of trees and a small body of water. There are also a few buildings in between the trees that you can see as well.

At the base of Cardigan Mountain, there is The AMC lodge. It is a grayish color, and has lots of windows. Next to the lodge are quite a few solar panels. At the bottom of Mount Cardigan, there are also cabins and campsites for visitors. There is an old ski lift at the top of a hill with an old car that was used several years ago. At the top of Mount Cardigan, there is a firetower.

We were there for a total of 3 days. Sunday September 19th, Monday September 20th, and Tuesday September 21st 2021.
