On day two once we made it to the AMC base, we got right to work to prepare for the big hike up Cardigan and Firescrew mountain. We started our journey off by looking at the map and playing fun games on the way up the mountain like, the clothespin game and the pen game. The clothespin game is where someone has a clothespin and they clip it to peoples bags, you can take it on or off someones bag, and whoever has it a little while later has to answer a question. For the pen game, we stopped our hike and our leader hid the pen in plain sight and we had to find it. Our tired legs carried us to a rock ledge looking over the top of the Cardigan. We ate lunch and we all found rocks to carry up the mountain, and not like pebbles, more like really small boulders.
We laughed and played around with riddles until we made it to where the dirt met the rock, and the hard part began. We cleared the tops of the trees and could see everywhere, almost as good as when we were at the top, but we were standing on an extremely steep rock. We eventually made it to the summit with tired feet and sketchbooks filled with sketches and we checked out the fire tower took a group picture and sketches, and after yelling to another group at the summit of Firescrew, started our descent to the second mountain. Climbing down was not nearly as hard as climbing up but after we made it to the summit of Firescrew all our hard work that day paid off, as we could see the huge mountain towering next to us. And we were short on time so we hiked back down the mountain excited for the adventure of day three.
The second to last theme and day would go with the region on day two.Region is something defined by characteristics, on day two, I can describe how the layering hills faded into the distance when we were on the top of Cardigan. And how the metal fire-tower towered over the large rigged rock.
