Day 2
The next day just like the day before we woke up at 6:15 and headed downstairs to wait for breakfast to be ready. As we waited for breakfast to be ready we played cards, apples to apples, etc. Once the breakfast was made, everyone got settled in their seats. Breakfast that morning was eggs with some bacon, biscuits and some sausage. After breakfast, we headed back to our rooms and got dressed in non-cotton clothes. As everyone got situated in non-cotton clothes we made lunch for our upcoming hike.
Once everyone met up with their counselors we talked about what was headed before us. As we finished talking about the Cardigan hike we started up the trail. This paragraph is mainly focused on regions. Heading up the mountain we took stops to take a water break, eat a little snack or sketch something important. Once we got to the top of Firescrew we took a longer snack break to enjoy the view and for anyone that had to go to the bathroom. As everyone finished going to the bathroom or finished eating their snack we headed to the path to get to the top of Cardigan. But once all of our teammates got to the top we headed to meet with Emily’s group who already made it up. With no time to waste, I had my ham and lettuce sandwich with a beautiful view from the summit of Cardigan to enjoy. As people finished eating Amelia B’s water bottle got bumped and started to roll down the mountain. But to rescue the water bottle Emily the counselor slowly went down the mountain to retrieve it. Amelia was very thankful for Emily to get her water bottle when she didn’t need to but still did.
As the 2 groups waited for the other 2 we took some photos and had such fun while we waited. 1 group made it up but it was too late to wait for the other one so we took a group photo with the 3 groups before we headed back down the mountain. We said our goodbyes to the other groups and headed back down the mountain. While going down we took some stops for views, water, and snacks. After about halfway down the mountain we stopped to play a type of hide and seek game which took about 10 minutes but sure made everyone happier. About an hour passed and we were almost to the lodge. Everyone was so happy to be back and the best part was we were first! (not that it mattered).
But after Blinky, our counselor finished talking about our success of making up and down the mountain we got to head back to our rooms and if you wanted to take a shower or just change. I took a shower to get the long hiking sweat of my body so I could be ready for what’s next. Once all groups were back we had free time. During free time I just hanged out in my room with my roommates and talked until we went downstairs to get ready for dinner. [may be set up for dinner] For dinner we had tacos. That meal wasn’t the best one but it sure filled my stomach. That night we had 1 1/4 pound of leftovers. [maybe cleaned after dinner]
Our counselors informed us that we had a campfire that night so they sent us back to our rooms to get some different clothes on for a campfire. At that time, we all headed outside for the campfire. Our counselors Blicky, Garret, Gretchen, and Emily told us different stories about the mountain, their life or in Garret’s case about a mango. As everyone sang along we had fun for our last night at the lodge. Unfortunately, the campfire had to end and we headed back inside for Mr. Woolner to read more to us from his book. As he finished everyone was exhausted and headed up to bed for our last night in our “own” beds.
