On September 29th, 2019 half of our grade arrived at HMHS at 8:30 am. As we boarded the bus, everyone started singing and such. The movement of the bus was bumpy as we head towards the Cardigan lodge. As we arrived at the cabin, we played some outdoor games with the counselors. After the games and such we ate lunch outside because they weren’t ready for us inside. About an hour later we got told we can go up and find our rooms that we would be sleeping in and get ready for our hike. From there on, we went back downstairs and met up with our counselors to talk about what’s coming ahead of us. As everyone was situated with what we were doing we headed over to the Welton Falls trail.
As we walked down the trail, we saw many different kinds of trees, maple, hemlock and more. As we got to the waterfall Garrett one of the counselors dropped all his papers into the water. He had to carefully go down to the water and go “fishing” for them. Just after that incident, we headed back to the cabins. Once we got back to the cabins we headed back upstairs to change into more comfy clothes to get ready for dinner. Dinner that night was spaghetti. After the delicious meal, we weighed how much leftovers we had, it was 1 ½ pound. Finally, when the tables were cleaned up we went back upstairs to get warm clothes on for a night walk. As my group met up in the field we started down the road for our night walk. We played a game when there was a leader and everyone else behind the leader closed their eyes as we walked around. Later on, we headed back to the cabin but just went into the yard and stared gazed for a bit. My counselor Blicky told us a myth about why their night time and day time. As everyone strolled back to the cabin we got dressed for bed and Mr. Woolner read to us for about 30 min until it was time to go back upstairs for bedtime. Everyone didn’t actually go to bed right as we got upstairs but eventually, everyone got to sleep.
