We were doing a big hike up Cardigan today, so I woke up early to get ready. Before our long journey, we had a breakfast of scrambled eggs and biscuits, with some hot chocolate. Then, we had to pack a lunch. I packed a ham and cheese sandwich with a grainola bar. I met up with my group and captain boots, and we got in the van and drove it to the spot we started the hike. We saw so many different types of trees and plants, so when we got tired, we stopped for a snack and to sketch a tree.

As we kept hiking, we saw four adorable dogs and we stopped to pet them. Then, we sketched some leaves and kept hiking. We saw two more dogs on the trail, they were so cute! As we kept hiking, the trees started to get smaller and smaller. A couple of minutes later, we were no longer surrounded by trees. We saw a gigantic spider, and took a picture of it. We also met a friendly hiker. We stopped to sketch the view, then climbed to the top. This mountain has to do with region because this mountain has a lot of civilization in it, and the neighboring mountain, Fire Screw, had a fire on the peak, which made the mountain top bare. Not only that, there are state forests around the mountain, that separate the different areas. My friend and I climbed up the fire tower, and had our lunch there. We watched the other groups climb to the top, and a couple of minutes later, we saw some one’s gatorade water bottle roll down the mountain.

“That’s my waterbottle” My friend yelled as we watch the water bottle roll out of view. My group leader, Captain Boots, walked down and got it before it rolled all the way down. We took a group picture and started hiking down. We sketched a little bit more, and when we were almost to the van, we tried to identify what type of weird looking tree was. When we got down, we had m&ms, and used the bathroom before the hour long ride back. I was exhausted, and I helped set up for dinner. We had to play trivia before we got our dinner, and I was really hungry. I had two tacos and ate an ice cream sundae. We had a campfire, and sang songs and told scary stories around the campfire, then my teacher told a story of his uncle, and we all fell asleep in our beds that night.
