On the second day of the Mount Cardigan trip, we started our day at 6:15 A.M and started down to eat a delicious breakfast of french toast and hashbrowns with ingredients from very close by farms. After breakfast, we started to climb the flights of stairs in the man-made environment affecting AMC mount cardigan lodge to get our warm clothes on because of the temperature this day on the hike. Once we did this we started our hikes with our group and ended up finding unnecessary amounts of trash on the ground horribly affecting the environment. This impacted the environment in lots of ways. Later we ended up finding the Indian Cucumber (Medeola Virginiana) which stuck to its name and tasted like cucumbers. A few minutes later, I almost fell off a cliff when I broke off a tree branch but caught my self on a bigger branch. Our group ended up spotting an old abandoned truck at the top of a ski trail left there because it was meant to be used as a motor for a ski lift. The oil from the car was left there and I noticed that there were some living animals in this bucket. Once we summited Cardigan we found that there was a fire tower at the top and it was locked so you couldn’t reach the lookout point. This mode most of my group sad. After this, we ate our lunch of sandwiches and apples. This was a high point to our day. After lunch, we started down to the bottom of the mountain. On our descent, we noticed another abandoned shack with squirrels living inside of it. Once we reached the bottom we witnessed a person breaking of limbs of a tree which would probably mean for this tree to die. Once we walked through the doors to the AMC Mount Cardigan lodge we had our free time to do what was permitted for the groups. After this, we had dinner of lasagna and salad. This was an amazing dinner. Right after dinner, we went out to a campfire and sang weird songs. This was another highlight of our day. Directly after the campfire, Mr. Woolner told us a story about Blackbeard then sent us off to bed.
