This is where Mount Cardigan is on a map of New Hampshire.

Cardigan mountain is around the coordinates N 43° 38’ 58.2’’, W 71° 54’ 50.8’’. It is about an hour north from Hopkinton, New Hampshire. It is west from Newfound Lake. It is in 2 towns, the west side being in Orange, New Hampshire, and the east side being in Alexandria, New Hampshire. Mount Firescrew is also right next to cardigan. It is also west of the AMC lodge.

Physical-

Near the top of the summit there is a lot of coniferous trees. The trees seem to change as they are climbing up the summit, it starts at the bottem of the mountain with a mix of different trees. Then it starts to become more and more coniferous until there is almost no decidous trees left. Finally at the top of the summit there is not trees at all. The way up to the summit is very rocky and steep. Also there is a bunch of delicate moss at the top of the summit.

Cultural-

At the top of the bare rock summit is a fire tower, it's been closed and locked down for years. There are cairns and white paint all over the summit telling people where to go. The summit is bare rock because people burned all the trees down to scare away wolves. There are rock walls all through out the woods, most likely for marking property in the olden days. Finally, there are cellar holes all in the woods from people's old houses.

We were at Cardigan for three days: Sunday September 29th, Monday September 30th, and Tuesday, October 1st.
