Thursday Day 2 On our second day at Cardigan, we woke up at 6:15 to get partially ready for our day, and breakfast. For our breakfast we had scrambled eggs, bacon, and blueberry muffins (the muffins were amazing). After breakfast we finished getting dressed and prepared for our long day of hikes ahead of us. Once we all were ready we met with our groups to plan our day. Once we started hiking we stopped a lot to take sketches and to wait for the group to catch up. As you know Cardigan is next it Newfound Lake, Newfound Lake and that very lake is in the lakes region. This is a representation of the theme regions. One of our sketches was of an old stone wall that was made before the american revolution and is now surrounded by leaves and trees. After that we hiked over a river and through the woods to grand junction we went. At grand junction we stopped for lunch and ate snacks and sandwiches. After lunch we played a little game of camouflage. After a little bit of hiking we stopped to eat a natural plant called woodsoral. It tastes like a granny smith apple which was amazing at that time. Once we got to the top Mr. Woolner told us that the summit is actually right in between the town of Orange and Alexandria. We found this pretty cool spot where it looked like you were hanging off a cliff and there was nothing below you. At the firetower we could see other groups hiking down Firescrew and it was snowing on us. Once we got back to the lodge we played spike ball during free time again. Then had dinner which was sloppy joe’s. For our nighttime activity the guides danced, sung and acted out scits. After that there was another inside freetime where the boys yelled and wrestled each other while the girls braided each others hair. Mr. Woolner read us another story this one written by a relative of his and went to bed.
