day 2 (Human enviroment interaction)

On the second day at Mt cardigan we woke up to the delicious smell of bacon and eggs and blueberry muffins. At breakfast we had orange juice and hot cocoa to drink. After breakfast my hiking group had to clean up breakfast while everybody made their lunch after breakfast my group finally got to make there lunchwhich was sandwiches and apples. After we packed our lunches we headed up to our room to pack ourday pack and get ready to hike the mountains. When everybody in our group was ready we started planning our hike so first we were only going to hike just Cardigan but all of us decided on hiking Cardigan and fire screw.

After deciding which mountains we were going to hike we decided on which mountain we were going to hike first and we decided on fire screw because all the other groups were going to cardigan first and we wanted to be different. After hiking for about 25 minutes we reached our first plot study of the day which was by and old house and barn foundation. We stayed at the foundation for 20 ish minutes and then started hiking again. We hiked for about half an hour then we reach the top of a hill and stopped to eat a snack. For a snack we had cheese its and trail mix I didn't really like the cheese its but I liked the trail mix. After our stop we started up hiking again. The hiking trail got harder and harder as we went up the mountain. After hiking for an hour we arrived at a beautiful view that looked like the top but it wasn't. We stayed there for a few minutes while people took pictures and then the people who didn't have to go to the bathroom walked back into the woods and the people who did have to go to the bathroom stayed on the rock and found a tree. After everybody was back in the woods we started hiking again for a little bit we came upon a beautiful stream that was on one side of the trail and on the other side there was a beautiful moss field.

At the moss field we stopped and did our 2 plot study of the day. After we did our plot study we sketched in our sketchbooks the stream and after sketching we took a group picture by a huge boulder I mean huge. After the picture we continued hiking. After about 30 minutes we came upon another beautiful view and it was not the top. At the view we had a snack which was oreos and trail mix and cheese. After our snack we hiked for a long time till we came upon a very steep rock that was very very hard to climb because it was wet because had rained this morning and there were only a few roots that we could step on till we got across and into the woods. After getting up the steep and very slippery rock we walked on rock and walk by stone carrians and then we make it to the top of Fire Screw. When Abby and Grace and I were almost at the top we saw the boys sing the national anthem from the top of there longs to try and get the other group on cardigan to wear them. At the top of Fire Screw we saw the fire tower on mt Cardigan because it was clear. After enjoying the view for a few minutes we sat down to eat our lunch. While we ate our lunch it started to snow. We all where so happy I mean really happy. After eating lunch we started hiking again.

We didn't hike down Fire Screw we started hiking up cardigan. We all were doing fine until one of the chaperons said they had popped there knee out and when we heard that all of the kids were on a rock hill that was really close to the top of Cardigan but we had to stop. When mrs.I started hiking again we all were excited for her and most of all to get to the top of cardigan. When we got on top of cardigan we took turns climbing up the fire tower. After everybody had a chance of climbing the fire tower we had to do a sketch in our sketchbook. But instead we all hung out by the monarch that killion saw. Since everybody didn't sketch we had to leave a little bit early.

As we walked down Cardigan which was very very very steep and it was all granite. As we walked down we came upon an old cabin that is falling apart. At the cabin the trail turns into a dirt so that's good. Since the trail is dirt us kids decide to run down it but we didn't run for long because we came upon a fork in the trail so we had to wait. When killion came he said to go down the ski trail because we are late. So we start running as we run and run Grace falls alot and so do I but we didn’t get hurt but only one person got hurt who was noah. He fell on a rock and ripped his rain pants and he ripped his pants. So he had to stay behind with killion and get first aid but the rest of us kept going. We were so close to getting on the real trail and then brittney falls and said she hit her head but she didn’t really hurt herself that bad she just fell on her butt. So when brittney got over falling we crossed the bridge onto the real trail. The real trail was pretty flat so we ran some more. We ran so fast the two chaperons gave up on keeping up with us so we were on our own. Somehow we caught up with Mr. Woolner’s group. Mr.Woolner stayed back with us till our chaperons and Noah and the people who stayed with them got back with us and when they did Mr.Woolner ran back to them.

When we got back to the lodge it was our free time most of us took a shower but some of us didn’t. When we got down to the lounging area they had hot cocoa for us to drink. As we waited for dinner to be ready I got my hair braided by Kennedy. After about 10 minutes dinner was ready. For dinner we had sloppy joes and hamburger and salad and for dessert we had ice cream sundaes. After dinner we went up stairs and got on warm clothes to go outside for a campfire, at the camp fire I sat on RJ’s lap because there were not enough seats. After about an hour of singing we went up stairs for bed, but Abby, Flo and I played uno till 11:00 and ate candy that abby brought after playing uno we went to sleep for our last night at Cardigan.

on day 2 there was lots of human envioroment interaction such as the lodge and the old stone barn and house foundation and the marks on the trees, the fire tower the rock summit at cardigan, the rock carins.
