day 1 (movement)

When we pulled up to the lodge I was amazed at how big it was because in my mind I had pictured the one of thoughs little cabins that like 4 or 5 people stay in. when the bus came to a stop an AMC guide came onto the bus and explained what we will do when we got off. When everybody got off the bus we headed over to an open field and played games (played games is an example of movement) till the teacher and chaperon unloaded all of the luggage(unloaded all the luggage is another example of movement).

When the luggage was unloaded (which is an example of movement) we went up into our bunk rooms and got everything ready for our day hike to Welltone Falls. After we got everything together for the hike we went back to the field and found out who our leaders are and my leader was Killinon my friends Abby and Grace were in my group which made the experience 10 times more fun. When everybody found out their leader my group learned how to use a map and did our first sketch which was the lodge.

After all of that stuff we finally started hiking(hiking is an example of movement). We hiked for about 30 minutes then we stopped by a river ate lunch and did our second sketch. In the middle of our lunch break the boys got a horrible idea(idea is an example of movement). The idea that the boys got was to stick their heads in the stream to cool off but all what it did was get their clothes wet and made them cold for the rest of the hike. Then we hiked for another 30 minute and we stopped and played a game. The game that we played was that we partnered up and we were blindfolded and are partners guided us to a tree and we had identified it. After the game we continued hiking. After about 20 minutes we came upon a river we had to cross. If you imagine your in your head 10 people 5 fine with crossing and 5 that are freaked out. It was a mess. Finally after ten minutes we got everyone across with only one person who got their foot wet which was brittney. Then we walk 20 minutes and we arrived at a cave that when you walk in there is a cable that keeps you from falling into the waterfall. After we ate our dried apricots and cheese and crackers we headed back to the lodge. On the way back we stopped after crossing the river to do our first plot study. After that Mr. Woolner told us a story about hemlocks. After that we hike back to the lodge and when we got to the lodge we all went up into our bunk rooms for an hour of free time. Most of us organized our bunk rooms at first then went down in the dining room area to play games. The girls braided each other’s hair and the boys played card games. When our hour was up we ate our first dinner which was Mac and cheese and lasagna and for dessert we had fudge brownies.

After dinner we cleaned up our dishes and we all went up and got our da pack and put on warm clothes to go out on a night hike. On the night hike grace almost fell off a bridge and brittney fell into mud and banged her head on a root. Grace also fell down a hill al the way to the bottom and when we figured that grace fell down killion turned on the light and grace was doing snow angels in the leaves. We also tried to scare another group but we got lost. On the way back we stopped and layed down to listen to nature and we also looked at the stars. Before we got back we saw some really cool glowing mushrooms. When we got back we all put on our pjs and went down stairs so Mr.Woolner could read us stories. After stories we went up to bed to get some sleep for a busy day of hiking tomorrow. As you can she there was lots of movement on day 1 such as the bus ride to Cardigan and crossing the stream and the unloading of the bags and playing for the games and the movement of the water coming down from the waterfall and the flow of the streams.
