Location Cardigan Lodge is located in Alexandria, NH near Newfound Lake and the Bailey Brook and is off Shem Valley Rd. Cardigan Mountain’s coordinates are: N 430 38' 58.2" W 071 54' 50.5" and it is approximately one hour away from Hopkinton/Contoocook. Place Cultural Geography: Indians used to like to go there for food like the Indian Cucumber. There are old rock walls that have been there for a long time so you know people lived there a long time ago. Physical Geography: Cardigan Mountain is very tall and has a lot of Pine and Hemlock trees. Cardigan has several hiking trails where you may come across Black Bears, giant mushrooms, Redback Salamanders, bridges and old stone walls. From the top you can see many lakes and other mountains. The lodge was warm and cozy.
We were there for three days starting on sunday, monday and tuesday.
