D2B3:Red Group
Location
On September 29th, have of my grade took a 2 night 3 day trip to Cardigan Mountain. We spent the time there taking sketches, recording data and observing the surroundings along with trail hiking and having fun with our classmates during group activities. When we got back home, the following week at school we were asked to right a paragraph telling where Cardigan Mountain or the Cardigan Lodge is. I chose both and we had to include absloute value and relative value. Cardigan Mountain Lodge is located at 774 Shem Valley Rd, Alexandria NH, 03222 in the USA. Its Latitude is positioned at 43 degrees 38’58.8”N and the lodge’s Longitude is 52 degrees 41.8”W. It is is western NH in the middle of the town of Orange and Alexandria. The actual Mountain however is East of the town of Orange in NH. Its LAT is 43 degrees 38’58.82”N and its LONG is 071 degrees 54’50.5”W.
Place
Mount Cardigan has a beautiful view from the top. A next door neighbor to Mount Cardigan would be Mount Firescrew. Mount Firescrew is much smaller than Cardigan. It doesn’t have a good looking area on the summit because it is surrounded with bushes at the top. There is only one opening for the view where my group took a picture when we arrived. Cardigan however has a fantastic view. It it much taller and is not bombarded with bushes that you can barely see over. It is quite a climb and takes about 2 ½-3 hours including all the stops we took to eat, drink and/or pee. But once we finally reached the top everyone had their pencils in hand and their eyes on their sketch books drawing the incrediable view of rolling hills, small towns and beautiful foliage. Then we all tried to look for a greyish four floor building below us, the lodge. We aslo sketched the giant fire tower. It was smack in the middle of the summit and all people wanted to do was climb it, but it looked very old and unstable and the teachers/educators definetley did not allow us to even touch it.
We were there for three days. Day 1 we saw a waterfall and gazed at the stars. The Day 2 we hiked to the summit of Mount. Cardian and had a campfire. Day 3 my group took a short little hike then spent most of our time at a beautiful stream. Mrs.Baroody accompanied us as we did the stream study and observed many different water species.
