When the day started, I got up, got changed, and got packed for the day. I then went downstairs and ate breakfast, which was eggs and hashbrowns. Next, I got my stuff and waited outside for my group, once they arrived Garret led a conversation about what we should bring and then we played a game. We played to take the chicken which was a game that consisted of trying to take a bandana(chicken) and hide it without Garret seeing. After the game, we started toward the trail that would bring us up the mountain.

We hiked along until we found our first crossroad, we went to the right and started our first incline. Once we finished the first incline we stopped and had a Wam and did an activity. Our activity was to find the bracelet that Garrett had hidden. After we played a few rounds we started going back up the next incline. Most of the hike consisted of one pattern, incline, Wam, incline, Wam. After doing that pattern for a little while, we stopped and had a snack/water/riddle break. After the break, we went back into our pattern for a while. We took a few sketches along the way, and we had a conversation about the different zones of the mountain. We continued hiking until we got to the first good view when we determined that we would eat lunch at the top of Firescrew. We hiked to the summit of Firescrew and ate lunch, and prepared for the “fun” hike downhill. We started hiking back downhill until we reached a good place to stop, which is where we had our debrief of the day.

After we had a good debrief we went back to the AMC lodge and had an hour of free time, which I spent reading and talking. Next, we had dinner which was Sloppy Joes and Ice Cream for dessert. We then went outside for Fire Circle which was very fun, my personal highlight was the Mango song. After Fire Circle, Mr. Woolner told some stories and then we went upstairs for bed. In my bunk room, we played UNO until we got tired, and then we went to sleep.

Regions-

At Cardigan, I would say that there are three different regions. The two categories are: Northern Hardwood forest, the Alpine zone, and the Boreal zone. The Northern Hardwood forest is what you would recognize as a forest, while the Boreal zone is made up of moss and short trees, and the Alpine zone is made up of rock and very little trees. The Northern Hardwood forest is the lower section of the mountain, the Boreal zone is in the middle, and the Alpine zone is at the very top. That is how I would explain the regions at Mount Cardigan.
