The Location of Cardigan Mountain Lodge
This nice little lodge is located right at the east base of Cardigan Mountain. The lodge is located in the town of Alexandria, although the west side of the mountain is in the town of Orange, both in Grafton county. All of the things I just mentioned are in the state of New Hampshire, USA. It is also about a one and a half hours away from Hopkinton Middle High School. For absolute location of Cardigan Lodge, the latitude is 43, 38’,59.1” North; The longitude is 71, 52’, 42” West; and the altitude is 1,104 ft.
PLACE at Cardigan
The Cardigan lodge is a quaint little AMC house located at the base of Cardigan Mountain. It is 3 stories high, painted white with green shutters. Outside there are multiple rows of solar panels. There is also a nice wooden porch outside with a small field right to the west of it. From the outside (or some of the windows), you have a very nice view of some of the white mountains surrounding it. The summit has a fire tower on top of it, which was made by humans when some people decided to burn all the trees off the summit.
The Cardigan mountain is a 3,115 ft high mountain in between the towns of Orange and Alexandria. The bottom of the mountain has mostly deciduous trees, and the top has mostly evergreen. It takes about 3 hours to hike up Cardigan, and Firescrew is located right next to it. From the top, there is a very nice view of the surrounding white mountains.
We were at Cardigan for 3 days, Wednesday, October 2nd , Thursday, October 3rd, and Friday, October 4th.
