Day 2
We had a quick breakfast and got ready for our big hike up cardigan mountain. Before we left everyone made a sandwich for lunch. After we finished making a sandwich we finally went outside and it was surprisingly warm.
Once we had got to the van we made sure everyone was ready to go. The van drove all the way to the back of Cardigan. Once we made it to the mountain we helped Constantine get situated for the hike. On the way up we saw sugar maples, princess pine, hemlocks, dogs, trail markers, sunbeams, and saw a stonewall. We also sketched trees, went up steep climbs, walked across a few bridges, and had spicy chex mix.Once we made it to the top of the mountain we saw the firetower and sketched the view. Our leader told us about how humans burnt the top of the mountain and that’s why there are no trees. That story is human environment interaction. Another example of human environment interaction is the stacked rocks on the top of cardigan. People took large rocks and started to stack them. In this case, it is, ‘humans change the environment.’ When we got down the mountain we drove back to the lodge and had a campfire. We sang songs and played some games until it was time to go back inside and sleep. That was how my day 2 went.
