Hiking up Cardigan on Day 2

Day 2

Day 2 On day two of our Cardigan trip, We started our days by eating breakfast and making sandwiches. We then hopped in the AMC van and drove to the west ridge trail. We got out and made sure everyone was ready so we could start the hike. We did three sketches right off of the start of our steep hike. We saw some cool fungi and a weird looking kelp plant. We did some sketches and took breaks trying to get everyone up the rocks. Throughout our hike, we crossed many bridges and small streams to continue our hike. We then reached a very rocky point that hardly had any plants, so we sketched the views. We eventually made it to the summit and did sketches of the beautiful views. There was a fire tower at the top of the summit which was man-made and had tons of materials on it that were carried up to the summit all thew way from the bottom of Alexandria, NH, thats a lot of metal! We ate lunch, took pictures, and packed up our bags to head down. On the way down, we learned other ways to sketch from our instructor. We did one more game before we reached the bottom and got ready to leave.

After coming back down to finish the hike, we got into the van when everybody was ready and drove back to the AMC Lodge and had a conversation before going in. When we got inside we went upstairs to hang out with the free time that we had. Once that was over, we went downstairs for dinner. After dinner, we had a campfire and learned some stuff about the AMC instructors. We learned that some of them like Emily, are from Hopkinton, NH while others are from different states. Lots of the instructors came from a certain state or New Hampshire and then moved here to Alexandria, NH to teach at the AMC Lodge. After that, we went upstairs, brushed our teeth, and went off to bed.
