Location

The AMC Cardigan Lodge is located in Alexandria, Orange. It is about 41 Miles North of Contoocook, and takes about an hour to get there. The lodge is near a couple of store fronts, and a church stands at the beginning of the road. The lodges coordinates are N43°38’59.24” W71°52’39.72”. From the AMC Lodge, the summit of Mount Cardigan is 10.3 miles west, at an elevation of 3,145 feet.

Place

Physical - Cardigan Mountain is full of many varying types of trees and plants. There are many creeks and streams full of wildlife, as well as regions of wood, from spruce to beach to all kinds of areas. Plenty of animals fill the woods and fields. Bare rock areas are fun to climb, and fill the mountain and the summit.

Cultural - Cardigan is filled with man made structures. Down at the lodge, there is an old worn cellar. The mountain itself is full of rock walls and cairns. Even the summit is a bare rock, because humans burned down all of the trees a long time ago. There is also a fire tower built by people at the top. The Lodge has 3 floors; a boy's floor, a girl's floor, and the dining hall/living room. They serve breakfast and dinner every day. Staying there was absolutely amazing!

We stayed at the AMC Cardigan Lodge for three days. The first day was Sunday, September 30. The second day we stayed was Monday, October 1 , and the third and final day was Tuesday, October 2.
