Our Last Day at Cardigan
On our last day of the trip we woke up, got out of bed and packed up everything into our bags. Then we ran downstairs with all of our stuff to go put it in Mr. Woolners trailer that was sitting outside of the lodge. The hustle and bustle finally ended when everyone was ready for breakfast. We all waited for the meals to be ready in the comfy, quiet corner. While waiting some of us played board games or card games, others like me just sat and visited with friends. They also served us hot chocolate before breakfast. Breakfast was just as good as the day before very well done by the chefs at AMC. I gotta say that I was suprised how good the food ended up being because it is really hard to find talented cooks and chefs especially for a place like the AMC lodge. Tip of the beanie to Tom Fisher. Once again like the second day we made our own sandwiches after having breakfast. We packed our lunches into our day packs. Because we hiked to the summit already the day of the group leaders decided to just have minor hikes across bridges over ponds and through the forest trails. My group started at the pond and headed to a first trail which we had to cross a bridge to get to. The bridge was small and very slippery. Beneath us was a stream but a fast flowing one with fridgid water. As we were carefully walked across it Dan for some reason chose to tip toe his way to the other side on the edge of the platform, which was the super slippery part. He was balancing on the plank like a gymnast on a balance beam except that Dan is no gymnast. I warned him not to get too close the edge and said not to do that knowing the consequence. He simply ignored and said that it was fine. Lets just say that I wish someone was there to que the Splash music. Dan slipped off the side and did like a 360 or something. I spun around and yelled. He crashed through the frigid water with force. His glasses ended up coming off and our group leader went in to go get them. She sent him inside to get warmed up. While we waited we all drew funny sketches of the scene. Turns out he was okay.
