Yellow Group, D2B2 Day 2 Cardigan The second day of the Cardigan trip was considered in most people's opinion the big day because that was the day of the hike to the summit. The reason for us being at Cardigan is because our school wanted kids to have a fun outdoor expierence. It all started out with that idea and eventually became a tradition every year for 7th graders in our middle school. Thanks to the AMC’s wonderful kitchen staff everybody had a delightful breakfast for the big hike. Also the sandwiches we made for the summit were just as delicious. Like the day before we went with our assigned groups to the top. We started out in different areas outside the lodge to discuss the plan. After all was said we set out on our journey to the top. The beginning of the adventure started. The weather was similar to the first day but it was cooler and not as wet. We stopped for snacks every 20 minutes or so. As we hiked we observed and discovered plants, different types of trees as well as streams and flowing rivers. We took sketches of many different plants. I don’t remember the name of one of the plants that we actually got to eat on the trail all I remember is that it looked like a clover and tasted like lemon. Tip of the beanie to Mr. Woolner for the sweet and sour moment. The mountain is a prominent bare-rock mountain that is a forest all the way up. When you hike higher and higher you can tell because the trees and plants will start to get smaller. Eventually there will be no plants at all and you'll just be walking on rock. It is relatively steep in some areas but is pretty relaxing hike for the must part. The best moment of the hike was being on top of the summit while it started to snow. The theme of Geography that was involved with our hike was the history behind the firetower on top of the summit. That is an example of PLACE.
