Day 1 September 26
Day 1 started when the old yellow bus pulled up to the AMC lodge. We got out of the bus and searched for our luggage. Once it is found,
we sorted it out and went to the backyard for the introductory games. We played Whistle ball and got sorted into our groups.
After that we got filtered into our rooms and prepared for hiking. After playing Mr. President with our groups, we started hiking.
We started on a beginner trail to a bog. Along the way, we sketched and got acclimated to the idea that we would be sketching a lot.
We learned about cellar holes and natures toilet paper. We also learned how to study ecosystems. Soon after, we had our lunches.
We talked for a couple minutes, sketched, and continued going. We soon came upon what we were looking for: A bog.
We had a conversation about how important those environments were to many species, specifically Moose, who need the bog for water and to eat off dependant plants.
We figured out that people lived there and used the trails to transport things from the bog, such as water and wood or rocks, and how that was the reason that there used to be
buildings in the forest.
Finally we went back, hung out, and had dinner. Day 1 ended with setting up our beds and going to sleep.
