Eratosthenes died at 86 year old from starvation. He lived in Alexandria and worked in a library. He is most famous for making the first accurate measurement of the circumference of the earth. Which he did by comparing altitudes of the mid-day sun at two places a known North-South distance apart. One other thing he is famous for is that he created the first map of the world. Eratosthenes the sun of Aglaos was born in 276BC in Cyrene.
