The Exhilarating and Riveting Mt. Cardigan Trip

The absolute location of Cardigan Mountain Lodge is located at 43 degrees, 38 minutes, 59 seconds N and 71 degrees, 52 minutes, 40 seconds W. Its relative location is in northern New Hampshire, located in the town of Orange, about 4.4 miles due west of Newfound Lake, and 1.7 miles east of Cardigan Mountain. It is south-southwest of Welton Falls State Park and just west of Bailey Brook.

The physical place of the Cardigan Mountain area is a diverse one, filled with many tree types such as Aspen, Paper Birch, Oak, Beech, and more. The area is very hilly with little flat ground, and there are many different sources of running and stagnant water due to the runoff from the mountain. Some examples are Bailey Brook, the large stream that the Croo Bridge runs over, the pond by AMC Cardigan base lodge, and Welton Falls, a natural reserve northeast of Cardigan. Also, the saddle between Mount Firescrew and Cardigan sets it apart from other like peaks. You can expect to find peaks that are rocky and craggy, and a beautiful valley view from them.

The cultural place of the Cardigan Mountain area is a very sparsely populated part of New Hampshire. This is because the area is a state protected forest. In addition, the few residences that are here tend to be small and cabin-like, and make sure to not disrupt the natural scenery too much. You will most definitely not find more than 10 houses in a row, if even. The Cardigan Mountain area is also a major tourist attraction, with thousands of hikers per year. Also, the firetower on top of Cardigan makes it stand out from the rest of the mountains in the area, and it is easily spotted from afar. Overall, Cardigan Mountain is a blissfully unsettled area to escape to, promising you a beautiful, undisturbed hike as well.
