Mt. Cardigan is North-West of Alexandria, and East of Orange. It is West of the AMC Lodge, where we stayed on the trip. It is South-East of Canaan, and North of Grafton. As for its exact location, Mt. Cardigan is at latitude 43.649795 degrees North, and at longitude 71.914805 degrees West.
Mt. Cardigan is a cold, windy place with many rocky crags. If you are planning to reach the peak, I would advise packing layers for warmth. If you look off the edge of the mountain, then you can see hundreds of green mountains, stretching off into the distance. Mt. Cardigan's summit is actually a false alpine zone, as no trees grow on the rock, only a sparse amount of shrubbery. Mt. Cardigan is the tallest mountain in the area.
On the peak of Mt. Cardigan lays a small fire tower, which was once used to spot fires spreading on the mountains below. On top of this very tower, people saw the famous fire on the firescrew peak. Many more buildings, such as the AMC Lodge, flank the mountain. At the peak, hikers sometimes etched their names into the rock, as many carvings are noticeable today.
We were there at the AMC Lodge for 3 days: Sunday the 23rd, Monday the 24th, and Tuesday the 25th.
