On day 1, we came to the AMC Cardigan lodge and unpacked our stuff. Then we met our group leaders who were going to hike with us. We set out to hike the Nature Trail which was about two miles in length. We were in a different, more of a mountainous region then we originally were in Hopkinton/Contoocook. But the Nature Trail was surprisingly flat, and I suspected Cardigan wasn’t going to be much of a hike. The day after I thought that, I regretted my choice of words. I soon learned that the northern New Hampshire region was very, very mountainous. I am happy that I don’t live in a region that has that many hills and mountains. It must have been a nightmare for the natives when they lived there.
