Day 1 (Regions)

By Jack R.

Yellow Group D2B2

On Sunday, our day started early at school, where we got on the bus to leave. We arrived at the lodge at about midday, and played some games with the staff until we could eat and go into the lodge. We soon got to our bunks and go t our bunking partners. After that, we separated into hiking groups and went on a nature hike where we learned about the 7 rules of leave no trace, and were told about the regions of Cardigan Mountain. These included the low-elevation Hardwood zone, the midway Boreal zone, and the high-altitude Alpine zone. We then settled down for a bit by a stream and did some sketching. After playing some games, we walked back to the pond outside of the lodge, where we found wildlife and sketched. After our eventful day, we retired inside for some free time before dinner. After dinner, Mr. Woolner read stories to us by the fireplace. Soon after, everyone was ready to hit the sack, so we all went up to our bunks.

Tree Grasping Onto Rock

This "Spider Tree" was barely grasping onto the rock by its roots.

Marked Circle Around Some Trees

We sketched and noted things that were in this little nature circle.

A Tadpole that is About to Become a Frog

This thick tadpole was about to mature into a Bullfrog.
