Not much is known around Homer except that he was a prolific poet. He is said to and/or known for writing the Iliad and Odyssey. Those were two epics following each other. The Iliad was about the Trojan War and then the Odyssey is about following Odysseus the main character from the Iliad; The book follows the brave character on his journey through traveling home. These works were the central works of ancient greek literature. Writen in Homeric Greek or "Epic" Greek.
Following these works in the modern age though for decades past scholars are still arguing around the Homeric question... A question about whom, when, where , and under what circumstances the Iliad and Odyssey were compsed: by one poet or changed over time from others scince scholars belive they were recited by word of mouth since people hadn't started the written language yet. Many have split up into two sides about if the works where created by one author or poet or many.
There is much speculation around him includeing when he was born. It is speculated that it must have been around the Trojan War. As well as if he was finished writing them. Despite that we don't know much about Homer and his backround his story, with possible help from others, had a major impact on the western coast.
