Yellow Group (Day 2, Block 2)
September 27, 2018
On day 2 of Cardigan, I was wide awake at about 6:00 am. As were my bunk mates. So we read a little and talked until hot cocoa was ready, and that's when we made our way down stairs. For breakfast, there was eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon. It was delicious. After breakfast, we prepared for the long day in our bunk rooms. Again, we met as a group to do an activity. Then, we set off. My group climbed Firescrew and Cardigan. We sketched at a lot of cool places. The summit of firescrew was really beautiful. You could see the firetower on the top of Cardigan from it. At the top of Cardigan, everyone sat with their groups and ate a snack while looking at the views. Before leaving we took a picture of the entire grade. Once we arrived back at the lodge, we had free rec time. Then, we ate tacos for dinner, and did group acts afterwards. We got ready for bed and listened to another story, then we settled into our bunks for the last night at Cardigan Mountain. There was a lot of Human Environment Interaction (HEI) at Cardigan, especially on the second day. At dinner, one of the cooks said that they take take care of a few trails. All of those trails have to be treated; taking trees out of the way, cleaned up and paved. During the actual hike, my group noticed the amount of trash on the trails. We also found things like little huts and outhouses. I think the biggest example of HEI is the trails. In order to make those, we had to cut down trees and plants that may have been healthy. That is certainly HEI, for we have created a decent amount of destruction on our forests.
