Cardigan Mountain's summit is located at 43.650027, -71.914483, and 3144 ft of elevation. The lodge is located at exactly 43.649656, -71.877698, and 1392 ft. Cardigan ldge is in Orange Nh, and near Alexandria, and Groton. Both Cardigan mountian near Newfound lake, and next to highway 4 and 118. Cardigan lodge is directly west of cardigan summit.
Cardigan's physical geography is mountainy. There are a lot of trees, forests, and steep inclines and declines. The cardigan area is also very rocky, especially at the tops of Firescrew and Cardigan itself. There are a lot of animals, but the majority are bugs, which live in the moss and small plants. It is very quiet, with only the sounds of wind in trees, water, and animals.
While cardigan is mainly natural features, there are quite a few cultural aspects. For instance,it has hiking trails, and ski trails all over the place, with blazes and cairns marking there presence. Signposts serve that same purpose as well. There is at least one road, crossing throughthe forest, and quite a few bridges scattered around. There is an AMC hut, and a lodge, as well as the firetower at the top of cardigan.
We were there for three days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
