The Movement of Day One

On the first day of the Cardigan trip, I showed up late because I was in Pennsylvania. I had moved about 350 miles in about six hours. My stuff had moved (geographic movement of things), as well me myself moving (geographic movement of people). So because of that, I showed up at about 4:30 pm. I was very confused when I first got there; I didn't know where to go. I had missed all of the morning activities, but I got in about 15-20 minutes of the pond studies, my least favorite thing about the whole trip. Part of that ordeal consisted of watching Jackson K. and Harrison trying to catch “Jimmies” (a.k.a. Frogs for you non-educated people). Then we had to meet up and sketch the insects people had caught in the pond. I sketched a backswimmer, a small critter, that had a very self-explanatory name; it swam on its back. Soon after, we went inside to have some free time, and then dinner. After dinner, we went on a short night hike. When we got to the end of the [very short] trail, we did a little activity about seeing colors on the dark. Darren, my group’s educator, showed us a colored piece of paper, and asked us what color we thought it was. I don’t remember exactly what color it was, but I do remember getting it right. Afterwards, when we got back inside from that, we went to the common area, and Mr. Woolner told us a story about Edward Teach (a.k.a. Blackbeard). Then we went to bed. I had moved from eastern Pennsylvania, to a lodge at a mountain in New Hampshire, to a pond near said lodge, and back to said lodge in a day.
