Day 3 (Human-Environment Interaction at Cardigan)

On day three, the final day, we did not have as much time. The bus was scheduled to leave at one. To start off the day, we maintained our typical routine of breakfast and preparation, but this time, we also had to pack up and clean all of the stuff around our room. Then, my group met by a nearby pond and started exploring. We each received little nets and started trying to get little pond creatures. Whenever we captured a cool critter, we would place it in a petri dish or an ice cube tray. We sketched the ones we found the most interesting, and then returned them back to their proper locations after correctly identifying their species. This part of the day is an example of Human Environment Interaction (HEI). When we placed the animals back in their location, our placement may have been somewhat inaccurate. This is an example of HEI because when we observed these species, we were interacting with nature and its dear treasures.

After this, we went on a beautiful trail called the Nature Trail. Among this trail, there was a clear, flowing river and a perfectly laid out forest. We completed many sketches along the way and stopped at a bridge to have lunch. The trail was not too long, so it was over relatively quick. On the short walk back to the AMC Cardigan Lodge, we stopped at a lovely field to talk about our exploratory trip as a whole. We talked about our likes and dislikes and what would stick with us after we left. From Indian cucumbers to free time, our trip really rocked. It will never leaf my memories and will surely stick with me for a long time.
