Homer was a greek, many consider him the first and greatest poet. Homer was born in the 8th or 9th century B.C.E, no one knows the exact date of his birth. Homer was known for many great works, he wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey. He has another work of literature out in the world, it's called the Epic Cycle. It is a collection of poems written about the Trojan war just like the Iliad and the Odyssey. Homer lived at the time that people believed that the earth was flat (it is not).
