This is a diagram showing the layers of the coast.
The dry zone is where the water rarely ever reaches. The black zone gets wet sometimes, and the rocks are black due to cyano bacteria. The white zone gets wet frequently, and it is called the white zone because of all the barnacles. the next zone is brown because of seaweed. The red zone is red due to red seaweed.
The red zone rarely ever gets dry, meaning that it is almost always submerged.
