After many days and months, Columbus and his crew arrived at the southeast tip of Cuba. They named this part of Cuba "Juana" in honor of the King and Queen of Spain's daughter.

They named the cape "Alpha" and "Omega" too. Columbus actually didn't know where he was In fact, he thought he was in Asia nearn to China or India because of the natives their.

That's how Native Americans got their false name of "Indians". Exploring the beautiful new land, they found many new plants and animals. Though the most intriguing plant to them

was tobacco which they found out they could smoke after having it shown to them by the natives.

The List of New Items Found in Cuba:

-The "Indies" or "Indians: Because Columbus thought he was in the Southeast part of Asia or the "Indies", the Native Americans he saw in Cuba were incorrectly named "Indians". Here is a link about the Native Americans

-Royal Palms: Royal Palms were some of the first plants to be seen by Columbus and his crew. These palms are not what you would typically think of, for they have no coconuts on them.

-Yucas & Potatoes:Yucas and potatoes are one of the many foods introduced to Columbus and his crew by the Natives. Yucas are like sweet potatoes but are not exatly alike, though they are in the same family.

-Tobacco:Tobacco was a very intriguing plant to Columbus and his crew. This was because the Natives showed them how to dry and smoke this leaf. Because it was very addicative, it was a number one favorite for people at that time.

-Carribbean Parrots & Macaws: Caribbean parrots are very brightly colored birds found in the Caribbean. A very common parrot is the Macaw. These huge birds were some of the biggest birds that Columbus and his crew found.

-Coral Reefs:Coral reefes are beautiful biomes made up of coral usually found near coasts of tropical areas. When Columbus's ships came to the new land, they almost hit them which would've completley trashed the boats and the reefes, but with quick thinking, they didn't.

-Corn/Maize: Corn or Maize was one of the many foods that Columbus found with the help of the Native Americans. THough you can just eat it plain, the Native Americans also made it into flour.

-Cotton Hammocks: Cotton hammocks were and are still used as a place to relax and sleep. The Native Americans, again showed Chris and his crew these comfortable places to rest.
