The summit of Cardigan Mountain is at 43 degrees, 38 minutes, and 59.23 seconds N, 71 degrees 54 minutes, and 53.3 seconds W, in Orange/Alexandria, New Hampshire.
Cardigan Mountain is full of physical attributes. One example, and also my favorite, is the boulders up on the mountain. These are perfect for jumping rock to rock, which makes some pretty good fun out of the long hike down the trail. Also, the fact that the two mountains create a “saddle” between Cardigan and Firescrew is a fascinating rock formation that also doubles as a pretty nifty shortcut from one summit to another. The field near the AMC lodge is the perfect place for outdoor activities, and also doubles as a meeting spot for groups or etc. Plus, the other things around, including a pond, tall trees, and friendly creatures that come out at night, if you can stay quite. Overall Cardigan, is a great natural place.
We were there for three days, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. The first day, we just settled in to the place, and did small trails just for fun. On the second day, we did the hike up Cardigan. And then, the third day was the opposite of the first, where we moved out.
