This is a diagram of the different zones at Odiorne Point in Portsmouth NH. There are a total of four points. The blac, white, brown and red.

The black zone is actually black. It has a type of bacteria, zanobacteria that covers the rocks. The white zone is also black but, it has barnicles that sticks to the rocks. That is why it is called the white zone. The brown zone is brown. The rocks have a brow tint to them and are almost red-ish. The red zone also isn't red. It has a bunch of tunicate and red bacteria that covers the rocks edges, making them look red.
