Physical Geography!:

Many different features describe Cardigan Mtn. The selection of different trees, the rolling hills, and small mountain range contribute to the beautiful scenery. The bald peak and ridge walk from Mt. Firescrew to Mt. Cardigan is a beautiful sight to see while trudging up a steep incline to reach the top. Looking back sometimes gives a boost of confidence to keep pushing up to the top. Natural parts of environments can help you reach something or just help you enjoy a great day at Cardigan and surrounding areas.

Cultural Geography!: As you pull up to the AMC Cardigan Lodge, you will see to your right a field of solar panels, which powers most of their facility. To the left is a small pond, (I am not sure if it is manmade or natural.) Moving up the Mowglis trail, there are two cellar holes made by people some time ago. Also, throughout the hike, you see small paintings on trees, these are called trail blazes, which serve to guide you on the trail. Towards the top, all around you see little rock cairns. These are little towers of rocks that hikers build along the path. Next, at the very top of Mt. Cardigan, you see the fire tower, with its commanding view of Newfound Lake and the surrounding mountains. Leaving the summit, down the Holt trail, you see the Wardens cabin, he/she lives there to take their shift in the fire tower each day.

Relative location of Cardigan Mountain:

Cardigan mountain and surrounding property is in Grafton County, north of our school by about 40 miles, right to the west of Hebron, Parallel with Newfound Lake which is east of Cardigan, and south of the Cockermouth River and Jewell Mountain.

Absolute location of Cardigan Mountain:

The absolute location of the summit at Cardigan Mountain is: 43 degrees, 38 minutes, and 59 seconds N, and 71 degrees, 54 minutes, and 51 seconds W
