Day One at Cardigan, Human Environment Interactions

We seventh graders spent 3 days at Cardigan. The first day, many things we saw matched the geography theme of human environment interactions.

The first was the clothing we had to wear. We were forbidden to wear cotton, because it holds water. The weather at the summit of the mountains we would be hiking could be cold and rainy. The water would seep straight into our clothes and stay there, causing as to get sick and get colds. Not good.

Another thing was that we went to a river. We wanted to cross it, so, we hopped across on the rocks that were conveniently scattered through it. The environment changed us - it forced us to walk across the rocks!

Lastly, we saw roads. The last two examples are of the environment changing humans, but humans change the environment too. We build roads through nature, which is changing the environment.
