My trip to Cardigan Mountain

On the second day of the Cardigan Mountain field trip the first thing we did was have breakfast. This was the day that we were going to do the full hike all the way up to the summit of Cardigan. We packed our lunches and split into our hiking groups. Are group decided to climb Firescrew then to go across the saddle to the top of Cardigan. We hiked most of the way sketching every single tree we saw along the way. The farther up you go there are different types of trees than at the lower parts of the mountain. A common tree that you see the farther up you go is a fir tree or a birch tree. This zone is called the Boreal zone. This is a good example of another theme of geography Regions. This is a wonderful example of regions for the Boreal zone is different than other zones or regions. Another example of regions is traveling from the AMC region into the Cardigan mountain region and back again. Once we arrived at the top of Cardigan there was a fire tower and a bare rock summit. The view was quite nice. We spent a little on the summit and then split back up into are small hiking groups to hike the decent. The way down seemed to go a lot faster even though we stopped for a little while at the high cabin. Once we arrived back at the lodge we had a little bit of free time in which we played some card games and ran around outside.

Once night time came around we all went down for some dinner which was lasagna. Then we all had dessert which was lemon cake. After that we all went out to the campfire and we sang some songs and each group did some skits. Then are AMC guide told a story of how the stars were made. After the campfire was over we all went inside around the fireplace and Mr Woolner read us some stories from his relatives short story book. Finally we all went up to bed. All in all in was a great second day at Cardigan mountain AMC lodge.
